  • No, I’m not a therapist, but I do incorporate counseling into many of my visits. Like everything else, the amount and type of counseling I incorporate into visits varies a lot depending on the patient.

  • Oregon is lucky — there are so many licensed naturopathic physicians here. Like other types of doctors, NDs often develop different areas of focus. Our training prepares us as primary care physicians, and many NDs continue in that role. Others choose to specialize or concentrate their practice in certain areas. For example, some focus on digestive or reproductive health; for me, that focus is mental health.

If you already have a naturopath, that’s great! I’m happy to work alongside other NDs as long as everyone is clear on our roles in your care and communication is open.

  • I kindly ask that you have a primary care provider (PCP) who can support your general health needs (for example: asthma management, birth control, acute illness, routine screenings, etc.). There are situations where I can temporarily help with certain primary care needs, but because I don’t practice primary care regularly, it’s safer and more comprehensive for you to receive those services from someone who does.
